Stormy Arrival (Utah Trip Day 1/Moab)
Friday (9/9/2005) we flew into Salt Lake City airport. The drive to Moab, UT (just outside of Arches National Park) was five hours (240 miles). It rained on and off the whole way. Thunderstorms are verly localized out there and its also "big sky" country so you can see the storm ahead and it won't be raining where you are. We survived and the weather has been great ever since. We didn't do much the first night, it had been a long day. We did eat at a restuarant (the Sunset Grill, good but pricey) on a hillside that was formely the home of a guy named Charles Steen who discovered uranium in Moab and became a millionaire during the "Uranium Rush" in the 1950's. A few pics below. The whole gallery will ready in a day or two.
