Florida: Widest Beach

(No I didn't say wildest beach.) There is a beach near Sarasota on Siesta Key, called Siesta Beach that is one of the widest in the world. Once you park and start on the sand its a pretty fair walk before you get to the water. And the sand is like powered sugar (without the calories). I was tempted to actually measure the distance to the water but was there to relax so this panorama pic will have to do. That was the best beach day during my stay. On later days it was so windy you really couldn't enjoy sitting on the beach.

Florida: Marie Selby Botanical Gardens

You can tell from my galleries that I love to photograph flowers. So when I heard about yet another flower garden I had to go. And it didn't disappoint. The Marie Selby Botanical Gardens is located right on the coast in Sarasota. I was licking my chops at this target rich mix of local flora and scenery along with a greenhouse full of exotic flowers. It is also a very beautiful piece of real estate on the water. A nice relaxing walk in the park.

I call this one the Spaceship Flower.

Couldn't get this shot with my old digital.
